That’s not to say you can’t shower your darling in gifts, but the time and attention put into preparing something delicious won’t go unnoticed. To get the ball rolling, here are a few simple, mouthwatering dishes for any budding chef.

PANNA COTTA

This classic Italian dessert from the northern Piedmont region is sure to impress and is surprisingly simple to prepare. There is only a handful of ingredients and you’ll only need ten minutes to prepare the mixture in a CRISTEL® stainless steel pan.

This dessert is best made in advance and you’ll need to factor in a few hours of chilling time to allow it to set. The beauty of Panna Cotta is that you can add your own touches and personalize the dish to really tickle your loved one’s taste buds. Our recipe includes lime and passionfruit pulp but you can adapt to include other exotic fruits that may be a hit.

BEEF BOURGUIGNON

Ah, the hearty French classic, le boeuf bourginon! This delicious meaty stew hails from the Burgundy region of Eastern France, which is famous for its red meat and wine production. Although there is a delicious selection of ingredients to include, and it takes a few hours to cook properly, beef bourgignon is fortunately a one-pot wonder.

Once your vegetables are chopped and your beef is diced, you can add all the ingredients to your CRISTEL® Castel’Pro® stockpot firstly over the stovetop, then you can simply pop it in the oven to allow the finest flavours and most delicate textures to shine through. Beef bourginon can be served with potatoes done any way – although it may be handy to roast your potatoes seeing as the oven will be running anyway!  For the oenophiles amongst you, enjoy with a fine red from Burgundy or the Cotes-du-Rhone.
