INGREDIENTS
- 3 cups flour:
- 2 teaspoons fresh yeast
- 1 egg
- 7 fl oz milk
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 40 g melted butter
- 1 packet vanilla sugar
- 1 pinch of salt
For icing:
- 2 1/3 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 2 tbsp. milk
- Food dye
METHOD
Dilute the yeast in a little lukewarm milk
Using an electric beater, mix the egg, sugar, milk, butter and yeast.
Add the flour and salt and knead for 5 minutes. Cover with a tea towel and leave to rise for 1 hour 30 minutes.
Spread the dough to about a half-inch thickness, then cut out circles of around 3 inches diameter.
Carve out a small hole in the center, then place the donuts on a tray lined with baking paper.
Cover and allow it to double in volume.
Heat 1 quart of oil to 340 °F in the frying pan and fry 1 to 2 minutes on each side, then place on absorbent paper.
For the icing, whisk the confectioner’s sugar with one or two teaspoons of milk. (Not too much liquid) Color about half of the preparation with red food dye, for example.
Spread the icing on the donuts.
Tip: you can add sugar decorations to your donuts.
