HOW TO MAKE ANY STAINLESS STEEL PAN SHINE

HOW TO MAKE ANY STAINLESS STEEL PAN SHINE

This is it, you’ve invested in some of CRISTEL®’s top-quality stainless steel cookware and you can’t wait to put it to use in the kitchen. This means it’s not only time for your cooking to shine, but for your frying pan to be properly maintained so it can shine brightly as well! Stainless steel is a highly sought-after material in the cooking world as it is incredibly durable and attractive. Make sure you take proper care of your product by following these simple guidelines.

EVERYDAY TIPS FOR CLEANING STAINLESS STEEL

Establishing a regular cleaning routine for your CRISTEL® products is relatively simple and will pay off in the long run. The first thing to keep in mind for your stainless steel products is the best way to clean any stainless steel cookware is to do it by hand. CRISTEL® cookware is dishwaher safe, but given the amount of chlorine in dishwashing detergent it is not the best for your cookware.

Furthermore, and this may seem obvious, but make sure you clean your pans after each use. For best results, you should use a product that is specifically designed for cleaning stainless steel. Otherwise, avoid cleaning products that contain ammonia or bleach as they can react badly with the metal. What’s more, avoid stacking sharp utensils in or around your stainless steel cookware to avoid unwanted scratches.

PRO TIP: Hand dry your stainless steel cookware with a clean dish towel. Leaving them to air dry causes water spots to form.

CLEANING TOUGHER STAINS

Of course cooking can be messy, but never fear, it’s all part of the process and there’s always a solution! Is your stainless steel cookware looking a little rough from use? Here’s some advice on how to get it sparkling once again.

If there is any built up food crusted into your pan after cooking:

  • Leave the pan to soak in warm, soapy water for several hours (overnight if possible).
  • Drain the water and residue from the pan
  • Vigorously scrub your cookware with a good sponge
  • Repeat process if necessary

PRO TIP: Avoid steel-wool pads or scourers as they can be too harsh on the surface.

GETTING RID OF BURN MARKS

Unsightly burn marks? Baking soda can work wonders. It is a non-toxic and biodegradable product, making it the perfect ally for use in the kitchen. Make sure your cookware is completely dry, then sprinkle the surface generously with baking soda. Rub it around the pan using a dry cloth or sponge, although a little water can help to create an abrasive paste.

For more serious burn marks, you can try cooking them off. Here’s how:

  • Over the heat, fill the pan with enough water to cover any burn damage
  • Bring water to the boil
  • Stir in a few spoonfuls of salt
  • Remove from heat and allow to soak for several hours.
  • Remove water, scrub with a good sponge
  • Repeat process if necessary.

PRO TIP: Lemon juice and white vinegar also work well as alternatives to salt.

MAKING YOUR STAINLESS STEEL COOKWARE

The key to keeping your stainless steel cookware looking good is to establish a regular cleaning routine. As mentioned earlier, it is a valuable investment to purchase a cleaning product specifically for use with stainless steel.

Such quality products are an investment worth the little extra time and effort to keep them in top condition. For those who want their cookware to really stand out and shine, you can polish your pots and pans with a stainless steel polish and a clean, soft cloth.

PRO TIP: Fingerprints can be simply removed from stainless steel with some glass cleaner and a paper towel.
